Bowers and Hullbridge look for further progress

Bowers & Pitsea v Hullbridge Sports – Len Salmon Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Rob Small and Darren Manning will once again run the rule over their charges as Bowers & Pitsea and Hullbridge Sport continue to ramp up ahead of the new Isthmian League campaign.

Both sides harbour ambitions for a promotion push and have impressed during the early weeks of their return – Bowers winning gruelling back-to-back matches with Hashtag United and Basildon United, while Sports crushed Bishop’s Stortford by four unanswered goals at Lower Road, answering their critics following a 1-1 draw at Welling Town.

Nevertheless, both bosses acknowledge it’s early days and that there’s still plenty to do ahead of the big kick-off.

I’m Looking forward to the game, It’s very early days and if it’s as hot as last weekend it will be difficult to learn too much,” Small told Yellow Sport.
“That said, it’s a decent fitness exercise as we ease the players back into playing football.”

Manning’s reshaped Sports’ outfit could prove to be a surprise package in the Isthmian North Division over the coming months: “ It’ll be a good test for us against a very strong side,” he enthused.

“After a positive performance on Tuesday, we are looking to tweak and improve certain aspects of our game with our Emirates FA Cup tie just three weeks away and honing into focus.”
