Boys arrested after fire in Billericay

Police investigating a suspected arson attack on a well-used community hub in Billericay have made two arrests.

Officers were alerted to a fire in a storage area to the rear of Chantry House, in High Street, at around 3pm on Thursday April 4.

The fire caused substantial damage to the property, which is used to facilitate a number of community support groups and projects.

CCTV images were circulated and a PCSO on patrol in the area spotted the suspects.

On Friday April 5, two 13-year-old boys from Billericay, were arrested on suspicion of arson.

They have since been bailed while the investigation continues.
