Vanarama National League South outfit, Braintree Town, has confirmed the signing of former Colchester United and Southend United defender, John White.
White, a one-time teammate of incoming Iron boss, Angelo Harrop, made 255 appearances during a nine-year stint with the U’s, helping them win promotion to the Championship in 2007.
After joining Colchester’s Essex rivals, the Rochford-born player would make a further 281 appearances and captained Southend at Wembley Stadium when Wycombe Wanderers were beaten on penalties, confirming the Blues’ promotion from League Two via the play-offs in 2015.
White was rewarded with a testimonial at the end of the last campaign. A Blues team beating their U’s counter[arts by three goals to one in front of a 1,500-strong crowd at Roots Hall Stadium.
Taking to Twitter, White posted: “Can’t wait to get started with this new challenge at this great club.”
