Brentwood man remanded in custody after charges including sexual offences against a child

A man has been remanded into custody after being charged with 15 offences including sexual offences involving a child.

Timothy Brown, 36 of Vernon Crescent, Brentwood appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on Monday July 1 to be formally charged with multiple offences following an investigation by the Child Sexual Exploitation Proactive Investigation Team.

The charges follow an investigation launched in June 2023 into sexual offences against children.

Brown has since been charged with:

  • Rape of a girl aged 13/14/15
  • Assault of a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm
  • Three counts of arranging or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation
  • Custody or control of a thing knowing it was a counterfeit currency note
  • Adult meeting a girl under 16-years of age following grooming
  • Two counts of causing a child aged 13-15 to look at an image of sexual activity
  • Two counts of causing a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity
  • Engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15
  • Two counts of production of a controlled drug of Class B
  • Adult meeting a girl under 16 years of age following grooming

Brown has been remanded into custody and will next appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on July 29.
