BRENTWOOD are within touching distance of their first Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division title since 2011 largely thanks to a superb knock from Will Buttleman.

The Essex wicketkeeper/batsman hit 76, while Jack Hebron chipped in with an unbeaten half-century to see the leaders home by five wickets at Belhus.

Earlier, the home side hade posted 184/9 – Matt Doran (63) and skipper Joe Joyce (43) both amongst the runs – Tom Oakley, with 4/22 the pick of the Brentwood attack.

Brentwood head into the final round of matches sixteen points clear of chief-rivals, Wanstead & Snaresbrook. They can clinch top spot when Chingford are the visitors to the Old County Ground on Saturday, September 7. Meanwhile, Wanstead & Snaresbrook will be looking to profit from a Brentwood slip when they take on Hornchurch at Harrow Lodge Park – Both games start at 11am.
