Billericay remained embroiled in a desperate relegation battle after hosts Brentwood raced to an emphatic 144-run victory at the Old County Ground.
Having been invited to bat, Brentwood amassed 303/4 with skipper Aaron West leading the way with 142 off 144 balls.
South African all-rounder Chris Green brought a wealth of experience drawn from experiences playing all over the world. The 27-year-old had spent the first half of the 2021 Vitality Blast campaign with Middlesex and had faced Essex Eagles at Lord’s two days previous. He marked his debut with an unbeaten 70 off 58 deliveries – Ross Poulton taking 2/69 on an otherwise tough day for the Billericay attack.
The result never really appeared in doubt. Nathan Khelawon did his utmost with a half-century, while Andy Smith scored 41. But Green excelled with the ball, claiming 4/53, while Ben Allison, Harry Phillips and Charlie Griffiths took two apiece as Brentwood eased home with some to spare and leave Billericay just a point off the bottom.
