West Ham United v Doncaster Rovers – Emirates FA Cup fourth-round – London Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview
Brian Dear has warned West Ham United not to take Sky Bet League One outfit, Doncaster Rovers, for granted when the pair go head-to-head in Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup fourth-round clash at the London Stadium.
The in-form Hammers are unbeaten in five Premier League matches but made heavy weather of seeing off Vanarama National League Stockport County in the last round. And insisted his former side would face a tougher tie this time against the high-flying Yorkshiremen.
“Everyone is expecting us to win the game and with Premier League players, we should,” Dear told Yellow Sport.
“But Doncaster are going really well in their division and look like promotion contenders. Coming to the London Stadium will hold no fears for Darren Moore’s side.
“They like to get bodies forward and are among LeaguemOne’s highest scorers. We could come unstuck if we don’t approach the game in the right manner.
Dear continued: “West Ham have a few skeletons in their closet where the cup is concerned. Most big clubs do. But I think we are seeing a welcome change under David Moyes. He is trying to fashion his own squad and stamp his personality on the team.
“We are difficult to break down, difficult to beat. I know the manager will make a few changes for the game, but look at the bench we have at the moment. There is enough quality there to progress in the cup which as I’ve said before, would be a big bonus.
“I expect it to be a tough game, but we should be confident enough to take it by the scruff of the neck and get through.”
Brian Dear’s prediction: West Ham United 3-1 Doncaster Rovers
Jeevesie’s prediction: West Ham United 2-0 Doncaster Rovers
