Leeds United v West Ham United – Premier League – Elland Road – Saturday (3pm) – Preview
Brian Dear believes West Ham United will return to winning ways when they head to Elland Road to face Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Hammers are without a win in three top-flight matches. Nevertheless, the East Londoners have made a positive start to the campaign following on from last seasons sixth-placed finish.
“If we hadn’t ended up talking about that penalty debacle, we would be content with an unbeaten start,” Dear told Yellow Sport.
“We never looked out of it against Manchester United at the London Stadium. As much as the result hurts, it was a very good performance. We just need to get the fine-tuning right.
“I think we missed Michail Antonio at the weekend. His power and pace would have troubled United. But I definitely believe we were worth a point, even without him.”
West Ham now faces a Leeds United side still searching for their first league victory of the season and who will be eager to impress their passionate home support.
“I think Leeds are in a false league position at the moment,” Dear added.
“They like to play and will be pumped up with that crowd behind them. The Leeds supporters have always been terrific. They really get behind their team. It will be another difficult match.
“Of course, we beat them at home and away last season, although Leeds were unlucky at the London Stadium. I think we still have a little more quality than them, but this will be all about passion as well. We must match them for effort and enthusiasm all over the pitch.
“But if we are to emulate last season, these are the type of matches we simply have to be winning. Leeds will be busy and playing at a high tempo. We have the players capable of taking the sting out of the situation and picking the right moments to strike.
“As I said, another tough game, but three points for the Hammers – Just!”
Brian Dear’s prediction: Leeds United 1-2 West Ham United
Jeevesie’s prediction: Leeds United 2-2 West Ham United
