West Ham United v Liverpool – Premier League – London Stadium – Sunday 4:30pm – Preview
Four Premier League victories on the bounce – Fourth in the table – Next up, Liverpool. Brian Dear can’t wait!
“This is the perfect time to play Liverpool,” Dear told Yellow Sport.
“I know they haven’t been firing on all cylinders of late but they are still a superb side. We’ve proved a few people wrong, but now need to test ourselves against a classy side. This is a great opportunity to do exactly that.
Dear is impressed that the Hammers have learned different ways to win football matches: “These are exciting times for the Hammers. Under David Moyes are developing a solid foundation and a winning mentality which has, at times, been a rare commodity at the London Stadium.
“We seem capable of grinding out a win, but can also turn it on and show a bit of flair too. I thought that was evident at Crystal Palace. Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio were superb. On another day, we’d have scored five or six!
But turning the attention back to Liverpool, Dear insisted West Ham should approach the game with confidence: “We are the in-form team, so why not,” Dear added.
“Of course, beating Liverpool is always a tough task, but it isn’t impossible. I think we can take something from the game. The players have that in them. It’s certainly not a free-hit. There’s no such thing when you are competing towards the top end of the league.”
Brian Dear’s prediction: West Ham United 2-2 Liverpool
Jeevesie’s prediction: West Ham United 1-1 Liverpool
