West Ham United v FCSB – UEFA Europa Conference League Group B – London Stadium – Thursday (8pm) – Preview

Brian Dear believes that a fired-up West Ham United will put Saturday’s Premier League injustice behind them and make an explosive start to their UEFA Europa Conference League Group B campaign when Romanian outfit, FCSB visit the London Stadium on Thursday evening.

David Moyes was incensed after Maxwel Cornet’s last-minute strike was wrongly ruled out at Stamford Bridge, costing the Hammers a deserved share of the spoils, and Dear insisted that FCSB might receive the backlash as a result.

“You’ve got to be in it to win it,” Dear told Yellow Sport.

“I expect us to go for it in the Europa Conference League. We’ve got to go all out to win it.

“I think we’ve looked alright these last three league games. Certainly, the team have shown we are going in the right direction and I expect us to start climbing the league soon.

“Moyes should go with a strong line-up on Thursday. FCSB are struggling in their league. It’s a big game for them, but I don’t think they can match us player for player.

“They do have a goalscorer in Andrea Compagno. The Italian forward has scored six times in eight games. We will need to be wary of him.

“But we should be looking to win this one and win it well.”

When asked about the events of Stamford Bridge and the late call, Dear added: “Saturday’s VAR call was an absolute disgrace. It has caused more problems than it has solved. I’d rather it was scrapped.

“I understand why Moyes was angry. Everyone connected with West Ham was angry. It was totally embarrassing for English football in general.”

Brian Dear’s prediction: West Ham United 4-0 FCSB
Jeevesie’s prediction: West Ham United 3-0 FCSB
