Nick Browne returned to form with an impressive century, helping Essex considerably turn the screw on day two of their LV=Insurance County Championship Division Two encounter at Sophia Gardens.

Brown hit 102 off 223 balls as the visitors established a healthy first-innings lead. Michael Pepper contributed 63, while Shane Snater followed up his six-wicket haul with a knock of 48 – Lukas Carey and Steven Reingold each taking three wickets for the hosts.

Earlier, Snater’s 6/39 had paved the way to Essex dismissing the Welshmen for 134. Simon Harmer claimed 3/46 – Dan Douthwaite, top-scoring with 39.

And Snater was amongst the wickets again taking his match figures to 7/58, while Jamie Porter (2/14) and Sam Cook (2/17) left Glamorgan clinging on, six second-innings wickets down for 76 – still 115 runs shy of Essex who are closing in on a quickfire victory.
