Brown offers no excuse as Billericay are beaten by Beach Boys

Billericay Town 0-1 Concord Rangers – Reaction

Billericay Town interim boss, Dan Brown, offered an honest assessment following his sides derby defeat at the hand of Concord Rangers.

A second-half goal from Lewis Simper earned the Beach Boys all three points at New Lodge, while Town had Luke Wanadio dismissed in stoppage-time following a clash with Concord substitute, Temi Babalola.

“At times, I think it was very similar to the last game (v Braintree Town),” Brown explained.

“We had quality at times in patches, but the last game we took our chances, this game we didn’t.

Brown refused to be drawn on whether Billericay should have been awarded a second-half penalty following a clash between leading marksman, Jake Robinson and Concord’s Frazer Shaw: “I haven’t seen it. Same as what I said to the players afterwards, I won’t comment of stuff until I watch it back – I can’t comment on the penalty.

Brown was limited with his attacking options, but refused to use that as an excuse for the defeat: “I don’t know if we’ve suffered because if you look at it, we’ve had a number of good opportunities.

“It would be hard to say we suffered because we didn’t suffer in the last game. It’s this level of football. If you take these opportunities you win the football match. Unfortunately, today we didn’t – the last game we did.”
