Sky Bet League Two outfit, Colchester United has confirmed that Wayne Brown has been appointed their new Head Coach following an interim spell in charge at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Dave Huzzey and Joe Dunne will assist Brown at the North Essex club. The U’s found themselves embroiled in a desperate relegation battle. However, a late surge under the trio saw them achieve a mid-table finish to the campaign.
Speaking to Col U TV, Brown said: “It was a few months ago now that we were asked to come in on an interim basis, I really enjoyed it and it has been a real positive period over the months we’ve had.
“I feel honoured and privileged to have been given the role on a permanent basis like this.
On keeping Hussey and Dunne at the club, Brown added: “I think it’s important that you surround yourself with people that want to achieve what you want to as an individual.
“They’ve got the work ethic and work ethos that I’ve got and it’s important that you get the balance right.
“Someone that wants to come in and work hard for me and the football club, but ultimately we want to get success together and be singing off the same hymn sheet.
“Both Dave and Joe bring different strengths to this managerial team, which again has worked really well in the twenty-two games we’ve had so far.”
Meanwhile, Colchester has announced that promising duo, youngsters Chay Cooper and Harry Beadle have signed one-year deals at the club.
Cooper, who scored in the U’s 2-0 victory at Hartlepool United, said: “Hopefully, I’ll be spending more time with the first time this year. The players and staff have been great for getting advice, and I’ve matured on and off the pitch based on what I’ve learned from other players.”
