Billericay Town are off the bottom of the table following a hugely impressive 2-1 victory at play-off contenders, Oxford City.

Femi Akinwande and Shaq Coulthirst were on target to land Town only their third victory of the campaign. As a result, they leapfrog Braintree Town who were without a game.

Chelmsford City continued to edge clear of the dropzone but had to be content with a share of the spoils from a goalless encounter with fellow strugglers, Welling United at the Melbourne Stadium. 

The Clarets now occupy seventeenth place – ten points clear of rivals Braintree at the bottom.

Buildbase FA Trophy fourth-round

Dagenham & Redbridge claimed the derby honours as second-half goals from Mo Sagaf and Junior Morias was enough to eliminate Southend United in a well-contested tie at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Pitching In Isthmian League Premier Division

Hornchurch are now just three points off the play-off places following a 3-0 win at Margate. 

Nathan Bertram-Cooper, Charlie Ruff and Tobi Joseph all scored after the interval to see the Urchins home in style.

Haringey Borough and Enfield Town played out a goalless draw at Coles Park. Meanwhile, Bowers & Pitsea were beaten by a goal to nil by Carshalton Athletic at the Len Salmon Stadium. Tommy Bradford with the all-important strike midway through the second half.

Brightlingsea Regent endured an afternoon to forget. The North Essex side were thrashed 5-0 at Bishop’s Stortford and remain perched precariously above the relegation zone.

Pitching In Isthmian League North

Aveley top the table after a second-half goal from George Sykes was enough to overcome Heybridge Swifts at the Aspen Waite Arena.

Canvey Island are in third with two games in hand. The Gulls recorded a resounding 6-2 victory on the road at Hullbridge Sports. Evans Kouassi and Matthew Price both scored twice, while Elliott Ronto and Callum Fitzer also found the net – Tony Stokes and Joe Gregory responded for struggling Sports.

Brentwood Town are into the play-off places. However, Rod Stringer’s men faced a titanic battle to overcome a stubborn Great Wakering Rovers side.

Eventually, a stoppage-time strike from Daniel Ogunleye settled the contest. Brentwood up to fifth – Rovers are in seventeenth.

Ibrahim Kehinde gave Coggeshall Town the lead four minutes after half-time at Grays Athletic only for the home side to swiftly hit back to Geofrey Okonkwo. Meanwhile, Witham Town recorded a vital win on the road. Ramiah Mills scored twice as the relegation-haunted side won at Bury Town by the odd goal in three. Another side in the dropzone, Romford earned a point at AFC Sudbury. L’heureux Menga with the visitors’ goal in a 1-1 draw.

Hashtag United slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Felixstowe & Walton United. Tilbury also suffered a damaging defeat, going down 4-1 at home against Stowmarket Town. Sam Jeremiah with the Dockers consolation

Shad Ngandu scored from the penalty spot to give Maldon & Tiptree the lead in their Friday night encounter at Barking. However, the East Londoners hit back after teh interval through George Purcell, Freddie Parker and Barney Williams to claim three vital points as they continue to move clear of the dropzone.

Essex Senior League

Walthamstow maintained their ten-point advantage at the top of the table after edging a tight encounter with fellow contenders, Redbridge at Wadham Lodge.

A single goal from substitute, Charlie Cole proved sufficient for Walthamstow in front of a huge derby crowd, numbering just shy of 400.

Second-placed Stansted saw off Woodford Town by three unanswered goals, while Stanway Rovers are in third following a resounding 4-0 triumph over Enfield. 

White Ensign looked in good shape as they brushed aside Ilford by four goals to one at Burroughs Park. There was a similar outcome at Little Oakley, where the home side eased past Sawbridgeworth Town. Hoddesdon Town were 3-1 winners over FC Clacton, as were St Margaretsbury over Clapton.

Cockfosters edged out Takeley by the odd goal in three. Elsewhere, West Essex won 3-2 at Sporting Bengal United. The home side remains at the foot of the table.

Essex Olympian League

Premier Division

With cup competitions taking centre stage, only three Premier Division matches were played.

Third-placed Rayleigh Town made up some ground with a 2-1 victory over Shenfield AFC. Liam Oliver and Harry Talbot netted for Town – Perry Robinson with the Shenfield response.

Christopher Denham bagged the only goal of the game as Kelvedon Hatch 1-saw off Springfield. Meanwhile, Bishop’s Stortford were Swifts 3-1 winners’ over Canning Town. Lawrence Healey with a brace and Sam Chaney adding another for the triumphant home side.
