Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers – Reaction
Back to winning ways – A European place within grasp, but the focus remained the same for Tottenham Hotspur interim boss, Ryan Mason.
Goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg proved sufficient to see off a hard-working Wolves side in N17. Nevertheless, with Aston Villa and FA Cup winners, Leicester City to play during the next seven days, its business as usual for Mason and his charges
“Our thinking all along was the next game,” the Spurs chief explained.
“That will be the case. I am going to enjoy the next thirty minutes because our performance deserves that. Our attention has to be on Wednesday, it’s another big game for the club, we know that. We knew today was a big game. Three wins in four in the Premier League so it is nice to get a good feeling going into a crucial seven days now.”
Dele Alli produced an eye-catching performance in front of England boss, Gareth Southgate. The former MK Dons man looking a little more like his old self, linking up with Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Kane to good effect: “I can’t speak in terms of what Gareth is thinking – I don’t know on that but, for me, Dele was excellent,” Mason added.
“I don’t really like singling out players but it’s hard not to because I’m sure everyone felt it.
“He ran, he competed, he pressed, he created opportunities. I’m sure he’s disappointed not to get a goal himself.
“It was an excellent number ten performance, I’m really pleased.”
