Dereham Town v Great Wakering Rovers – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Aldiss Park – Saturday (3pm) – Preview
Flying in the cup – Floundering in the league – It’s a conundrum for Great Wakering Rovers boss, Steve Butterworth, but a challenge he is ready to hit head-on as he looks to find a formula capable of lifting the villagers away from the foot of the Pitching In Isthmian League North table.
Rovers head to Norfolk for a second-successive Saturday, this time to take on a Dereham Town side sitting just outside the play-off places after winning two of their opening three matches, Stark contrast to Butterworth’s charges who are without a point from the same number of games.
“We are back to our bread and butter this Saturday,” the Rovers chief told Yellow Sport.
“We need to take our cup performances into the league and start putting points on the board.
“Undoubtedly, it will be a tough game. I expect Dereham to do well this season. They have started reasonably well.
“But we’ve shown on our day we can beat anyone. We just need to be confident and think about what made us tick against Heybridge and Felixstowe.”
