Aveley 4-0 Great Wakering Rovers

Great Wakering Rovers boss, Steve Butterworth couldn’t hide his disappointment after seeing his side slip to a 4-0 Pitching In Isthmian League North defeat at Aveley on Friday evening.

The impressive home side triumphed thanks to a brace from Jon Nzengo coupled with goals from Marlon Agyakwa and Tom Anderson.

“It was a very disappointing performance,” the Rovers chief told Yellow Sport.

“We simply never got going, was outplayed and outworked by a very good side.”

Butterworth called for a response on Monday afternoon when Basildon United visit Burroughs Park (3pm): “It’s another really tough game against a young side who I believe will do well this season.

“Both of us took a good hiding over the weekend. It will be a case of who responds, shows a bit of resolve.”
