Butterworth frustrated by blunt Rovers

Tilbury v Great Wakering Rovers – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Chadfields – Report

Tilbury 2-1 Great Wakering Rovers

Great Wakering Rovers manager, Steve Butterworth tried to remain positive after his side slipped to their fourth Pitching In Isthmian League North defeat of the season at the hands of fellow early-season strugglers, Tilbury at Chadfields.

The Dockers had too much for the villagers going forward. Two goals from Lewis Smith on either side of the interval did the damage and although Jake Gordon pulled one back late -on, the Rovers were unable to retrieve the situation.

“We lacked a bit of quality in the final third,” Butterworth told Yellow Sport.

“We are not getting the rub of the green just now. I don’t think we are too far away from a really decent performance and turning it into points.

Great Wakering Rovers now turn their attention to the Emirates FA Cup where they face Peterborough Sports in a second qualifying round tie at Burroughs Park on Saturday, September 18 (3pm).
