Great Wakering Rovers v Witham Town – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Burroughs Park – Saturday 3pm – Preview
Steve Butterworth remained upbeat despite facing several hurdles ahead of Great Wakering Rovers’ opening Pitching In Isthmian League North game of the season against Maldon Town at Burroughs Park on Saturday afternoon.
Rovers concluded their warm-up fixtures with a morale-boosting win at Harlow Town. However, the Rovers chief had to work tirelessly to shape a squad that had been exposed defensively during their early pre-season matches.
“The boys have worked hard this week. We are all raring to go,” Butterworth told Yellow Sport.
“We are looking forward to getting underway. It has been a long wait.
“We have a couple of ‘historical’ suspensions to deal with going back before lockdown, plus our captain is unavailable, but I think we have enough about us, particularly with the new signings, to get a positive result.”
