Butterworth looking for a unique Rovers double at Stowmarket

Stowmarket Town v Great Wakering Rovers – Pitching In Isthmian League North – Bury Road – Saturday (3pm) – Preview

Steve Butterworth is hoping his Great Wakering Rovers side can pull off a ‘double’ of sorts when they take on Stowmarket Town at Bury Road on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier in the campaign, Rovers knocked their hosts out of the Buildbase FA Trophy at the first qualifying round stage following a dramatic penalty shoot-out. Nevertheless, with their Trophy aspirations currently on ice, Butterworth will be looking for a similarly solid performance, helping the villagers scramble away from the Pitching In Isthmian League North dropzone.

“It’s another tough match for us – I thought Stopwmarket were very good when we went there in the Trophy,” the Rovers chief told Yellow Sport.

“We should carry a bit of confidence with us, with that game in mind. We played really well at Sudbury for seventy-five minutes on Tuesday night, but seem to get punished for every single mistake we make.”

Butterworth added: “I’m hoping to add another player to the squad ahead of the game. It’s another coach journey to look forward to, which seems to have suited us this season. Hopefully, we can keep with the coach trip trend and collect another positive result.
