Great Wakering Rovers v Peterborough Sports – Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round – Burroughs Park – Saturday (3pm) – Preview
Steve Butterworth has called upon his Great Wakering Rovers side to cause a huge Emirates FA Cup upset and make history when they face Peterborough Sports in a second qualifying round tie at Burroughs Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Rovers has never been beyond this stage of the competition and face a tough test against a Sports side currently top of the Southern League Premier Central division with six wins from their seven league games.
Rovers have seen off Heybridge Swifts and Felixstowe & Walton United to reach this stage of the worlds’ oldest cup competition: “We have a two-week break from the league and can put all our focus into the tie,” Butterworth told Yellow Sport.
“The pressure is largely off because nobody expects us to progress. But the FA Cup is all about shocks and surprises throughout its history. I’m urging the boys to give it everything they’ve got and see if we can make some club history but going further than ever before.
