Canning Town strike late to frustrate Old Boys

Canning Town v Old Southendian – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – West Ham Community Ground – Report

Canning Town 2-1 Old Southendian

Old Southendian boss, Altan Ali was left frustrated with his sides’ game management after struggling Canning Town ended their recent unbeaten sequence.

The East Londoners struck twice in the dying moments to record a precious victory after the Old Boys had looked set for the three points thanks to a Matt Tonking goal.

“We should have had the game won,” Ali told Yellow Sport.

“I’m extremely frustrated because our game management was very good until the final minutes.

“We were missing a few regular faces, but had done well and appeared to be in control of the game.

“Decision making has proved costly. But we will learn from it and must ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Ali added: “We have set our ambitions high. These are the sort of matches we must be winning, We’d discovered a level of consistency in recent weeks. Now we must do that again.”
