Chalkwell Lifeguards rescue injured woman from mudflats as tide comes in

A routine Sunday afternoon foot patrol by Chalkwell Lifeguards over the sandbanks to warn swimmers in the Ray and Leigh Creek of the incoming tide, turned into a dramatic rescue following a report at 12.45pm of a woman with an injured knee and cut feet immobile a quarter of a mile out from the beach at Chalkwell.

Two Chalkwell Lifeguard Club members already on patrol were radioed by the club patrol captain and went to assist the injured lady.

They reached the woman just in time as she was already knee deep in water and she was assisted back over the mudflats and safely to the beach where she was treated by an East of England Ambulance crew.
