A first-half brace from Luke Chambers ensured helped Colchester United through to the last sixteen of the Papa John’s Trophy as fellow Sky Bet League Two outfit, Swindon Town were edged out at the County Ground.
Chambers nodded a fifth-minute opener following an Alan Judge flag-kick. He added his, and Colchester’s second of the evening. Again using his head to good effect – Judge continuing his role as the provider – leaving the home side stunned with little over eleven minutes on the clock.
Huddersfield Town loanee, Romoney Crichlow reduced the arrears shortly before the break. And despite the U’s being forced onto the back foot after teh restart, they held firm to progress.
Colchester United now turn their attention to the Emirates FA Cup where they take on Wigan Athletic in a second-round tie at the Jobserve Community Stadium on Sunday, December 5 (12:30pm)
