The chairman of Basildon Council’s Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee, Councillor David Harrison said:
“I want to personally thank our frontline council staff who are doing a tremendous job in maintaining essential refuse and cleansing services across the borough at this difficult time. They continue to do their part, and are helping us all pull through the coronavirus pandemic – whilst making sure the borough remains clean and tidy for all of us.
“Please make sure you do your part by only leaving out waste in the right container, on the correct collection day, and keep hold of bulky items until we are able to resume our bulky waste collection service.”
The leader of Basildon Council, Councillor Gavin Callaghan said: “I want to thank everyone in Basildon who has stepped up, done their part, and is helping us all pull through the coronavirus pandemic – including our NHS workers and council staff who are maintaining essential services and keeping the council running.
“They’re working hard to ensure that disruption to essential services such as waste collection is kept to a minimum, while following public health guidance to protect the public and staff against infection from coronavirus.
“Residents can reach the council outside of Good Friday and Easter Monday via our specialised Community Hub email or phone line: [email protected] or 01268 533 333 – and selecting Option 1 immediately.
“Most people have been respecting the need to slow the spread of coronavirus, using parks responsibly, going outside only where necessary, and helping each other in a multitude of ways.
“Thank you for following the government guidance on social distancing and, where appropriate, self-isolation. Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.”
