Chelmsford moved clear at the top of the table by comfortably winning a low scoring contest at Chelmer Park.

Skipper Jack Sterland provided a foundation for the hosts’ success, hitting 66 off 129 balls – Dan Hagen contributing 25, the only other Chelmsford batsman to reach double figures – Sam Handley appearing to have given Hadleigh & Thundersley the upper hand with impressive figures of 6/42.

But the visitors’ afternoon was to take a turn for the worse. James Clifford’s superb 5/30, coupled with 4/19 from Ben Waring turned the tide back the way of Chelmsford.

Luke Smith did his utmost for Hadleigh & Thundersley, top-scoring with 31. But with those around him falling cheaply, the contest quickly went away from his side.
