Chelmsford remain in touch after edging out Hornchurch

James Gruijters hit a half-century while Ben Waring snaffled three wickets as Chelmsford saw off Hornchurch at Chelmer Park to stay on the tails of Wanstead & Snaresbrook and Brentwood at the top of the Gooch Division.

The home side restricted Hornchurch to 151/6 with a tight dispaly with the ball. Waring finished with 3/33, while Liam Keaney claimed 2/24 – Jamie Sorrell top=scoring for the visitors with a fifty of his own.

Gruijters provided the platform with an unbeaten 57, but the Chelmsford batsmen also found the going tough in damp conditions. Skipper, Jack Sterland, hit 32, while Jack Cook chipped in with 26.

Wicketkeeper/batsman, Brad Green, was also there at the conclusion as the hosts got home with six balls to spare.
