Chilvers strike earns U’s a point

Colchester United v Carlisle United – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Report

Colchester United 1-1 Carlisle United

Noah Chilvers’ first-half goal handed Colchester United an early advantage but the U’s had to settle for a share of the Sky Bet League Two spoils after visitors, Carlisle United, hit back through Kristian Dennis before the break.

Chilvers’ low strike gave Colchester a nineteenth-minute lead as they looked to secure their first victory of the campaign. This after Freddie Sears had earlier hit an upright as the home side started brightly.

U’s stopper, Sam Hornby, denied Dennis. However, the Carlisle man ensured his side a point, heading home a minute before the interval.

Colchester United now turn their attention to the Carabao Cup where they will face Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Tuesday, August 9 (7:45pm). The U’s return to Sky Bet League Two action on Saturday 12 when they take on Stockport County at Edgeley Park (3pm).
