Colchester facing a tough test at Palace in Carabao Cup

Yellow Sport’s Brian Jeeves will be at Selhurst Park for the Carabao Cup second round tie between Crystal Palace and Colchester United – Selhurst Park (Tuesday 7:45pm – Preview

Colchester United will face a difficult task making Carabao Cup progress against a Crystal Palace side fresh from a stunning 2-1 Premier League success over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Of course, Eagles boss, Roy Hodgson, is likely to make a number of changes to his side ahead of the U’s clash. Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, as well as James McCarthy, Victor Camarasa and Connor Wickham, are expected to feature for the hosts.

The South Londoners reached the fifth round of the competition during the last campaign – knocking out West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City before slipping out to Middlesborough.

Colchester recorded their first Sky Bet League Two victory of the season on Saturday – Luke Norris scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to sink Northampton Town at the Jobserve Community Stadium. And boss John McGreal could also tinker with his starting eleven, with Luke Gambin and Paris Cowan-Hall perhaps coming into contention after featuring against the Cobblers.

Left-sided defender, Cohen Bramall, could return to the U’s line-up. The former Arsenal man having served a three-match ban following his red card against Swindon Town in the first round.
