COLCHESTER UNITED are now confirmed to be competing for a place in Sky Bet League One after a date was set for their League Two play-off clash with Exeter City.

The U’s will take on the West Countrymen at the JobServe Community Stadium on Thursday, June 18 with the return fixture taking place at St James Park the following Monday.

The winners will take on either Cheltenham Town or Northampton Town at Wembley Stadium on Monday, June 29. All matches will be staged behind closed doors.

Speaking to, U’s boss, John McGreal, said: “We have been preparing for these Play-Off matches for a while now, but it’s great news, and a little bit of a relief, to have it all confirmed with the vote.

“Actually, we’ve been geared up to trying to win promotion all season, so this gives us the opportunity to fulfil that ambition we all had back in August.

“I’m gutted for the fans as they won’t be able to come to the games and cheer us on as a reward for their support all season.

“I know that they’ll be watching on TV though – willing us to get the positive results against Exeter that get us to the Final and then hopefully promotion.”

The Sky Bet League Two play-Off dates are as follows:

Semi-Final First Leg – Thursday, June 18

Colchester United v Exeter City (5.15pm)

Northampton Town v Cheltenham Town (7.45pm)

Semi-Final Second Leg – Monday, June 22

Exeter City v Colchester United (5.15pm)

Cheltenham Town v Northampton Town (8pm)

Final (Wembley Stadium)

Monday, June 29 (7.30pm)
