It was a case of honours even when a combined second-eleven side comprising players from Essex and Kent drew with the South Asian Cricket Academy in a three-day friendly at Billericay.

Jamal Richards proved to be the standout performer, hitting 109 during the Essex/Kent second innings. Meanwhile, Luc Benkenstein scored half-centuries in each innings, and Ben Allison an unbeaten 62.

Aaron Beard’s three for 57 noted his continued impressive form with the ball.

Essex’s Second XI return to competitive action on Monday, April 29, when they head to the Utilita Bowl to face their Hampshire in the Second XI Championship.
