Following the latest Government advice regarding coronavirus and the potential impact on theatre audiences, the Towngate Theatre is rescheduling its shows and performances that were due to take place over the forthcomings weeks.
A statement released on Tuesday said: “We are sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause, and are saddened to have to delay the shows and programmes that we love seeing in Basildon.
“However, the health and safety of our patrons and the Towngate team are paramount and we’re striving to reschedule performances to a later date.
“All tickets will be automatically transferred to the corresponding day of the new performances, and all tickets and seats for the original performance will be valid for the new schedule.
“Customers are asked to not call the box office as we will be proactively contacting all ticket holders.
“If ticket holders are unable to attend the new dates once they are finalised, the Towngate Theatre can exchange tickets for another performance or transfer the amount to online credit via Towngate accounts (which can be used for any performance and at any time in the future).
“Alternatively, our team can fully refund tickets if none of these options are suitable (please note customers who paid in cash will be required to complete a Payment Requisition Form, which can be posted upon request).
“From Monday March 23 you can also email the team at: [email protected] to organise an exchange, online credit or refund. Please attach your booking order number or the surname and postcode of the person who made the booking.
“We will continue to update our social media platforms and website as-and-when we have new information for you. Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Towngate in the near future.”
