Vanarama National League South strugglers, Billericay Town have been provided with a boost with the news that former Republic of Ireland striker, Simon Cox has joined the clubs’ coaching staff.
Cox was capped 30 times by Ireland, scoring four goals. During a sixteen-year playing career, the 34-year-old represented several clubs, including Reading, Swindon Town, Nottingham Forest, West Bromwich Albion and closer to home, Southend United where he found the net on 43 occasions during 150 appearances for the Roots Hall Stadium outfit.
Cox finished his playing career in Australia with Western Sydney Wanderers. He will now be looking to help Jody Brown’s men pull away from the foot of the table following a difficult opening half to the season which has seen the Blues win just two of their twenty matches to date.
