Colchester United v Bolton Wanderers – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Saturday 3pm – Preview
A solid point on the road at Bradford City has given Colchester United a Sky Bet League Two platform of sorts to build on. Nevertheless, former frontman, Ray Crawford, now wants to see the U’s on the front foot when reemerging Bolton Wanderers are the visitors to the JobSever Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“Defensively, we were rock solid at Bradford, which is great. But this team must make the JobServe a fortress,” Crawford told Yellow Sport.
“It has to be three points at home. We need to be a little more creative in the final third, play with a bit more tempo about us. The attacking players must step up to the plate and take the pressure off a little.
“We have an opportunity to string a few results together and properly get amongst the challengers – let’s not allow that opportunity to pass us by.
The Trotters find themselves in the bottom tier following several years of financial hardship. However, despite an opening day defeat to Forest Green Rovers, the North-West club – now under the guidance of former Barrow chief, Ian Evatt – Crawford expects them to be amongst those clambering for promotion come the end of the season.
“Ian did very well to get Barrow back in the EFL, it was one of the games great success stories because he united the whole town behind the football club.
“Undoubtedly, he will use the same methods at Bolton and undoubtedly, their fans will follow suit as he attempts to get them back where they believe they should be.
“I think Bolton will be in the top six., but I think they will be waiting at least another week for three points. Colchester are strong enough to see this one through and as ever, I’m backing them to do exactly that.”
Ray Crawford’s prediction: Colchester United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers
Jeevesie’s prediction: Colchester United 1-1 Bolton Wanderers
