Doncaster Rovers v Colchester United – Sky Bet League Two – Keepmoat Stadium – Saturday (3pm) – Preview

Colchester United confirmed their Sky Bet League Two status with a resounding 4-1 victory over Sutton United, and their former frontman Ray Crawford has urged Ben Garner’s men to carry on the good work when they head to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

The U’s head to Yorkshire defending an eight-match unbeaten run: “The boys have been tremendous,” Crawford told Yellow Sport.

“But we can’t put our feet up. It’s all about building more positivity and putting the fans in the mood for next season. If we can carry this on, then we could be in for an exciting campaign. I can’t wait to see if we can challenge for promotion next term.

“The win over Sutton showed how we have evolved. Nobody panicked when we went behind and we were ruthless once we got the bit between our teeth.”

Crawford offered special praise to win-back Junior Tchamadeu, who was named the EFL’s Young Player of the Year for League Two: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the young man,” he added.

“Junior has been consistent and has become a favourite with the supporters. To be recognised as a Player of the Year by the league just goes to show that people are looking at you.

“I think Junior can play higher up the leagues, but hopefully he can help Colchester achieve promotion and do it with us.”

On the trip to Doncaster, Crawford said: “I actually think we are going there as the favourites at the moment, which shows how far we have come.

“We beat them 3-0 at the JobServe earlier in the season. That will be in the back of their minds. We need to be respectful of that but remain confident that we can get something from the game again.

“Things are starting to move in the right direction for the football club. It is now all about everyone pulling in the same direction. It is about getting the word out in the city. Letting people know that they have a football team worthy of their support.

“Colchester United can be as big as we want it to be. But the drive has to come from everyone. I can’t stress that enough.”

Ray Crawford’s prediction: Doncaster Rovers 1-1 Colchester United

Jeevesie’s prediction: Doncaster Rovers 0-2 Colchester United
