Colchester United v Grimsby Town – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Saturday 5:30pm – Preview
Ray Crawford fears Colchester United are becoming cut adrift from the Sky Bet League Two play-off places.
The U’s recovered from a 6-1 thrashing at Exeter City with a 1-1 draw against Crawley town at teh JobServe Community Stadium during the week, and although the points helped exorcise demons of that collapse in the West Country, it left the North Essex outfit treading water in midtable and slipping further away from the top seven.
“We need to start winning again as quickly as possible,” Crawford told Yellow Sport.
“I know the confidence would have been hit at Exeter, but we already know Colchester have a decent squad which are more than capable of beating the likes of Crawley. We’ve thrown away another lead – it’s all very frustrating.”
Colchester now faces a Grimsby side towards the wrong end of the table and themselves showing very little consistency under the management of Ian Holloway.
“We need to get the basics right and be on the front foot,” Crawford continued.
“We have goals in the team but need to find our feet and rediscover some form ahead of the busy Christmas period.
“I’m concerned that the season is going to peter out before the fans have a chance to return. Hopefully, the boys can ease my concerns and get us back amongst the teams challenging – starting this weekend.”
Ray Crawford’s prediction: Colchester United 2-1 Grimsby Town
Jeevesie’s prediction: Colchester United 3-1 Grimsby Town
