Colchester United v Forest Green Rovers – Sky Bet League Two – JobServe Community Stadium – Saturday (3pm) – Preview

Ray Crawford has urged Colchester United to go out with all guns blazing when they face relegation-threatened Forest Green Rovers in what is a huge Sky Bet League Two contest at the JobSeve Community Stadium.

The U’s are unbeaten since the Cowley brothers took charge and have opened up an eight-point advantage over the bottom two. Nevertheless, they will be wary of the five-goal hammering dished out to them by Saturday’s opponents back in mid-October.

“We are in a far better place but Danny and Nicky won’t let the team get complacent,” Crawford told YellowSport.

“We put in a professional display to earn all three points at Morecambe last week, avenging the defeat they inflicted upon us earlier in the season. I expect this weekend to be the same.

“Of course, we have to respect Forest Green. They have just appointed Steve Cotterill as manager. An experienced man, who knows what it takes to turn things around.

“But I think, what with the new signings, we will have too much for them. We look better organised. It’s a must-win game for both sides, but three points for Colchester will give us further breathing space and an opportunity to look up the league instead of over our shoulder.”

Crawford added: “I know Colchester are far from the finished article, but we have made strides and the positivity surrounding the club right now is terrific.

“I think we have to go into Saturday on the front foot. Dictate the game from the start. If we can start being a bit more ruthless, then we should start winning these sorts of games comfortably.

“But for the moment, winning is the most important thing. 1-0 or 5-0, it doesn’t matter, although I don’t think it will be too long before someone is on the receiving end of our new-found confidence.”

Ray Crawford’s prediction: Colchester United 2-0 Forest Green Rovers
Jeevesie’s prediction: Colchester United 2-1 Forest Green Rovers
