Cyclist dies in Rayleigh collision

A cyclist has died following a collision in Rayleigh this morning.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a lorry in Rawreth Lane at around 10.30am today (Tuesday 5 November).

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, died at the scene.

The driver of the lorry, a 55 year-old man from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Police need to speak to anyone who saw the collision or has dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward. In particular they wish to speak to anyone who saw a white, silver curtain-sided lorry in the lead up to the collision or afterwards and how it was being driven.
