Vanarama National League
Alex Reid bagged a second-half brace on his debut as Dagenham and Redbridge impressively saw off in-form Notts County by two goals to nil at Victora Road.
Reid’s goals helped the Daggers to their first National League victory since mid- November and lifted them two points clear of the relegation places. Meanwhile, County’s troubles were compounded by the second-half dismissal of skipper Michael Doyle after picking up a second yellow card.
Vanarama National League South
Billericay Town were involved in a tremendous match with Tonbridge Angels at New Lodge. Goals from Jake Robinson, Femi Akinwande and Alfie Potter saw the Blues lead 3-1 before the Angles hit back to earn a share of the spoils from a 3-3 draw.
Tosin Olufemi and Decarrey Sheriff netted for Concord Rangers in a 2-2 draw with Eastbourne Borough at the Priory Lane Stadium. However, Chelmsford City slipped to defeat – as did Braintree Town – to Slough Town and Hungerford Town by a single goal respectively.
BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division
East Thurrock United raced to a 3-0 success over Lewes at the Dripping Pan. Frankie Merrifield, Mitchell Gilbey and Danny Harris were on target for the Rocks – they move up to seventh.
Hornchurch remains in contention for a play-off place after an early goal from Lewwis Spence was enough to see off a dogged Bowers & Pitsea side at the Len Salmon Stadium. The evergreen Jamie Cureton hit a hat-trick – two from the spot – as Bishop’s Stortford played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Horsham. Meanwhile, goals from Anthos Solomou and Roman Michael Percil proved insufficient as Haringey Borough went down 4-1 at Margate.
BetVictor Isthmian League North Division
Aveley are top of the table following an entertaining 4-2 victory over Witham Town. Alexander Akrofi scored twice for the Millers while George Sykes and Harry Gibbs also found the net. Marcus Bowers and Scott Kemp responded late in the day for Witham.
Second-placed Heybridge Swifts slipped from the summit as visitors, Basildon United won by a Conor Tyrell goal to nil at the Aspen Waite Arena. Meanwhile, Thomas Barton and a penalty from David Knight helped Tilbury maintain their challenge with a 2-1 triumph over Bury Town at Chadfields.
Adebola Sotoyinbo provided a late equaliser for Hullbridge Sports in their 1-1 draw at Felixstowe & Walton United, while Joao Carlos did the honours as Grays Athletic earned a similar result at Cambridge City.
Great Wakering Rovers slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Histon at Burroughs Park – George Purcell with the villager’s goal, while Coggeshall Town went down 4-1 at Dereham Town – Nnamdi Nwachuku for the North Essex outfit.
Canvey Island hit seven during the week. However, they were unable to follow this up as Soham Town Rangers won by a goal to nil at Park Lane. Brentwood Town also lost 1-0 – Tom Maycock with a late winner for hosts, AFC Sudbury.
Essex Senior League
Saffron Walden Town continue to set the pace at the top. Gavin Cockman scored twice, while Jack Isherwood also found the net in a 3-0 victory at Sporting Bengal United.
Hashtag United are second following a 3-1 Friday night win at Woodford Town. Also ahead of the weekend, Tower Hamlets and Southend Manor played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
Back to Saturday, and Clapton picked up the individual scoring plaudits with a 5-2 success at Sawbridgeworth Town. Takeley won by the odd goal in five against St Margaretsbury, while Redbridge triumphed 2-1 at Enfield and West Essex took the points thanks to a single-goal win over Ilford. Elsewhere, Hoddesdon Town and Cockfosters drew 1-1.
ProKit UK Essex Olympian League
Catholic United’s ever-decreasing Premier Division title aspirations took another hit as they were thrashed 4-0 at relegation-haunted Old Southendian.
Nick Henesy netted twice for the Garon Park outfit, while Nico Dubouchet and Ryan Stillwell completed the rout.
Leaders Sungate remain six points clear following a hard-fought goalless draw at Buckhurst Hill, while second-placed Leight Ramblers won 4-1 at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Shenfield AFC also won 4-1 on the road – seeing off Canning Town at Albatross Close.
In Division One, leaders Chingford Athletic won by three unanswered goals at Galleywood. Old Chelmsfordians are second after a 6-1 walloping of Herongate Athletic, while Ongar Town – in third – cruised to a 4-0 success over Manford Way. FC Hamlets also took the points, beating visitors, Shoebury Town by two goals to nil.
Leigh Town continued their quest for the Division Two title following a 3-1 win over Harold Wood Athletic Reserves. Second-placed Old Southendian Reserves tripped up, going down by the odd goal in three to in-form May & Baker Eastbrook Community Reserves.
Wakering Sports beat Epping Town 2-0 at Cupids, while Beacon Hill Rovers won an entertaining clash at Corinthians 3-2.
Goals-galore in Division Three. ACD United beat Basildon Town reserves 6-4, while Buckhurst Hill Reserves saw off their Leigh Town counterparts 5-3.
Corinthians second string won by the odd goal in seven at Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ – meanwhile, there were 4-2 wins on the road for Lakeside Reserves and Wakebury at Toby Reserves and White Ensign Reserves respectively.
Division Four leaders, Roydon, took another step towards promotion with an emphatic 9-1 win over Laindon Orient’s second string. Ongar Town’s seconds were 4-1 winners over their Shenfield AFC counterparts, while Leytonstone United won 2-0 against Galleywood’s second string. Forest Glade needed a single goal to take the points at Chingford Athletic Development, a result which saw the latter slip from the top of the league.
Old Barkabbeyans won a Division Five thriller with Collier Row Reserves by four goals to three. Leigh Ramblers seconds were too strong for Roydon Reserves – Ramblers winning 2-0. And it was the same outcome at St Lukes Way where Runwell Sports Reserves beat Springfields seconds.
Newbury Forest Reserves won by a goal to nil at Wakering Sports Development, while there was a cracking 3-3 draw between Herongate Athletic Reserves and Shoebury Town Reserves
Essex Junior Cup
Collier Row progressed following a 6-1 demolition of Wakering Sports Reserves, while Hutton Reserves are also in the hat after edging out Shoebury Town seconds 2-1
Essex Premier Cup
Basildon Town’s Premier Cup hopes ended abruptly as visitors, West Bergholt, won 4-1 at the Basildon Sports & Leisure Club.
