Daggers draw

Hartlepool United v Dagenham & Redbridge – Vanarama National League – Victoria Park – Report

Hartlepool United 1-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge shared the spoils with Hartlepool United after a 1-1 draw in their Vanarama National League clash at Victoria Park.

Ben Strevens made two changes to the Daggers’ starting line-up following their 3-2 defeat at Woking last Saturday with Nick Tavares and Josh Hare replacing injured Lewis Page and Sam Ling.

After a cagey opening in the initial stages, Daggers took the lead in the thirty-seventh minute when Luton Town loanee Dion Pereira picked up possession just inside the Hartlepool half before powerfully gliding through the home defence to sublimely slot the ball past keeper Peter Jameson.

Just before the break Inih Effiong went close with an effort that was just inches over the crossbar and following the resumption David Appiah-Forson found Effiong again only for this time his shot to be deflected wide of the upright.

Pools restored parity in the fifty-ninth minute when Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s through ball found Joe Grey to smartly finish past Elliot Justham to make it 1-1.

Ten minutes from the time, Justham magnificently denied Grey his second of the match with a spectacular save in the bottom corner and in added time, Daggers almost stole the points when substitute Harvey Kedwell, having just entered the fray, managed to get his head to Josh Rees’ cross – only for Tom Parkes to spectacularly clear the ball off the line and save the day for Pools.

Dagenham & Redbridge bring their Vanarama National League season to a conclusion against Aldershot Town at the Chigwell Construction Stadium next Saturday (12.15 kick-off).
