Dagenham & Redbridge 2-2 Chesterfield
Dagenham & Redbridge twice came from behind to deny ten-man Chesterfield all three points at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Daggers recently came from 2-0 down to beat King’s Lynn Town by the odd goal in five at Victoria Road and they had to chase the game again a Spireites side, themselves struggling for consistency.
Tom Whelan’s high boot saw him sent for an early bath, leaving the visitors to negotiate eighty minutes a man light.
But galvanised by their collective hardship, Chesterfield took the lead seven minutes later when Will Evans fired low beyond Elliott Justham in the Daggers goal.
Scott Wilson swiftly profited from an Andrew Eleftheriou centre to restore parity. But Chesterfield restored their earlier advantage when Akwasi Asante found the next five minutes before the break.
But Dagenham was to earn an important point. Former Billericay Town man, Sam Deering, with the vital strike to move Daryl McMahon’s men seven points clear of the dropzone.
Dagenham & Redbridge return to Vanarama National League action on Saturday, February 6 when they face Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground (3pm).
