Daggers thrash Boreham Wood at Meadow Park

Boreham Wood v Dagenham & Redbridge – Vanarama National League – Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park – Report

Boreham Wood 1-4 Dagenham & Redbridge

Dagenham & Redbridge further eased any lingering relegation concerns with an inspired 4-1 victory over Vanarama National League strugglers Boreham Wood at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park.

Josh Rees, who joined Daggers from Wood in the summer netted twice against his old club with Ryan Hill and Inih Effiong also on the scoresheet as the East Londoners raced into a 4-0 lead, with Kobongo Tshimanga pulling one back in first half stoppage time.

Dion Pereira picked out Rees in the centre to fire home into the top corner for the opener only four minutes before the former Gillingham & Nottingham Forest striker struck his second of the afternoon – and his fifteenth goal of the season – to double the score twenty minutes later when Pereira’s initial effort rebounded back to him to steer into the net from close range.

Daggers made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark when Hill drilled Pereira’s in-swinging corner into the bottom corner from just inside the area.

Effiong’s spectacular long-distance free kick made it 4-0 to effectively seal the win for Dagenham on the cusp of half-time and despite Tshimanga chipping the ball over Elliot Justham to pull one back in time added on – and Matt Robinson hitting the upright early in the second half – the game was long over as a contest with Daggers barely troubled thereafter as the points were secured with ease.

Next up for Dagenham & Redbridge is the visit of Ebbsfleet to the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Monday (3pm).
