Daily update on coronavirus deaths in East London hospitals

Seven new coronavirus-related deaths were confirmed by east London hospitals today.

The trust managing King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen’s Hospital in Romford confirmed four deaths.

Barts Health NHS Trust, which manages Whipps Cross in Leytonstone and four other hospitals, confirmed three, compared to 12 yesterday.

There have been almost 1,000 fatalities in east London hospitals since the start of the pandemic in March.

Yesterday (May 12), Public Health England reported there were 627 deaths reported.

On the same day, more than 3,400 new coronavirus cases were confirmed by  lab test results.

Two people from different households can now meet outdoors in England, provided they stay more than 2 metres apart.

People who want to exercise outdoors can now do so for an unlimited amount of time rather than just an hour a day.

However, the government has said it will impose higher fines for people who break social distancing rules.

The Government announced this week it would extend the furlough scheme until the end of October, another four months.
