Dear calls for more of the same from happy Hammers

Fulham v West Ham United – Premier League – Craven Cottage – Saturday 5:15pm – Preview

Brian Dear was hugely impressed with West Ham United’s performance at Villa Park during the week and the former Hammers frontman is expecting more of the same when they travel across the capital to Fulham on Saturday evening.

Debutant Jesse Lingard marked his debut with a brace, while Tomas Soucek continued his rich vein of form with his eighth Premier League goal of the season, helping the East Londoners into fifth place.

“What a terrific result, Dear enthused.

“Questions were asked of the team following the defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. Had we run out of steam? What was the mindset? I think the team answered emphatically.

“It’s a great start for Jesse Lingard,- he’ll be chomping at the bit for Saturday. And what can you say about Tomas – absolutely brilliant.

Dear thinks Fulham could be next to suffer, adding: “I know they are fighting for their lives and they gave us a tough game at the London Stadium. But we should be extremely confident, going there to win and put down another marker.

“It’s incredible to think some pundits couldn’t see West ham getting a point from any of their opening seven Premier League matches this season. But here we are, heading into February with 38 points, in fifth place, just off the Champions League places.

“I hope David Moyes gets the credit he deserves from all corners. The transformation in this team has been remarkable.”

Brian Dear’s prediction: Fulham 1-3 West Ham United
Jeevesie’s prediction: Fulham 0-2 West Ham United
