Dear doesn’t expect Hammers to come unstuck against Toffees

West Ham United v Everton – Premier League – London Stadium – Sunday (2pm) – Preview

Brian Dear thinks West Ham United will be far too strong for an Everton side now managed by former Hammers midfielder, Frank Lampard.

The relegation-haunted Toffees head to the London Stadium on Sunday hovering just three points above the dropzone.

“The pressure is on Frank and his team,” Dear told Yellow Sport.

“He’s got a really tough job on his hands because they largely look like a side destined to be relegated.

“I know they managed to see off Newcastle in their last game before the international break, but Everton are far from convincing. They are a big club, but this has been coming. I think Frank might have bitten off more than he can chew with this group of players.

“Everton in the Championship doesn’t sound right, but it goes to show that anything can happen in football, particularly if the recruitment is poor and the infrastructure insecure.”

Dear added: “The break will have done us good. We are still missing Jarrod Bowen, which is a blow. But I expect we have far too much for them.

“They are battling away towards the bottom, but I’m not sure how much of a fight they have in them?

“I watched their game with Spurs last month and thought it was the worse performance I’ve ever seen from a Premier League side. I expect us to get at them and can’t really see anything other than a comfortable home victory for the Hammers.”

Brian Dear’s prediction: West Ham United 2-0 Everton
