Dear expecting Cherries to be a tasty test for Hammers

AFC Bournemouth v West Ham United – Premier League – The Vitality Stadium – Sunday (2pm) – Preview

Brian Dear is expecting a tough test for West Ham United when they face an AFC Bournemouth side intent on firing their way out of relegation trouble.

The south coast club won a thrilling encounter with Tottenham Hotspur in N17 last weekend, adding the Lilywhites to an impressive list of scalps, including Liverpool and Chelsea.

“They have taken the battle to the other teams, fair play to them,” Dear told Yellow Sport.

“Bournemouth has always tried to play nice football, but just now they have a steely streak about them. They conceded a late goal at Spurs, but when straight up the other end and won it. You have to admire that.

“Indeed, Gary O’Neil has done a great job at the Vitality Stadium. No doubt, he’ll want to push on with this group next season and be competing higher up the league.”

Dear continued: “But that is exactly what we need to be doing. We were fantastic against Arsenal, but other than that, we’ve rarely hit the levels expected.

“We only have four points to play with. It’s not a bad position to be in, but We probably need two more wins to be safe.

“The players showed what they can do last weekend. It is now up to them to replicate that over the next few weeks and ensure we are still in the Premier League come August.”

Brian Dear’s prediction: AFC Bournemouth 2-2 West Ham United
