Dear insists that Hammers are more than a match for Liverpool

West Ham United v Liverpool – Premier League – London Stadium – Wednesday (8pm) – Preview

Brian Dear believes that revitalised West Ham United should head into Wednesday evening’s Premier League clash with Liverpool brimming with confidence after successive victories have pulled them clear of the relegation zone.

Indeed, wins over Fulham and AFC Bournemouth, coupled with a spirited draw against leaders Arsenal have moved David Moyes’ men six points clear of the bottom three, while UEFA Europa Conference League progress can only have added to the teams’ confidence.

“We appear to have found our feet, Dear told Yellow Sport.

“It remains hugely frustrating that we couldn’t have picked up earlier in the season because we have a far better group of players than results suggest. But now we have got here, let’s make the most of it. Liverpool are next up and we should be confident that we can take something from the game.”

Dear continued: “Liverpool have goals in them, but defensively, I think they are suspect. The evidence of the last couple of matches suggests that we can hurt them. I think it is a matter of confidence, which we should have by the bucket load at the moment.

“Finishing the season strongly and with a European trophy would be a great reward to the supporters. Beating Liverpool on Wednesday night would not only just about securing our Premier League status but send out a message to AZ Alkmaar ahead of the semi-final that we are ready for them and that they should be worried about facing us.”

Brian Dear’s prediction: West Ham United 3-2 Liverpool
