Fulham v West Ham United – Premier League – Craven Cottage – Sunday (2pm) – Preview
Former West Ham United forward, Brian Dear, was delighted with the Hammers’ comeback win over Tottenham in N17 and is hopeful that the result has provided the East Londoners with a shot in the arm ahead of a tough trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Cristian Romero’s looping header gave Spurs the lead before goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse turned the game on its head and extended the Hammers unbeaten league sequence to four matches.
“Naturally, as a former player and a West Ham supporter, I’m delighted to get one over Spurs,” Dear told Yellow Sport.
“We had to show plenty of resolve, particularly during the first half. Spurs came out of the traps quickly and looked likely to run away with it, such was the possession count and their sheer dominance.
“But we hung in the game. While it remained 1-0, we still had a chance. I must admit, I predicted a heavy defeat before the game. I was delighted that the players proved me wrong.”
The Hammers now face a Fulham side fresh from a 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest during the week: “It’s a new challenge against a team with their tails up,” Dear added.
“Fulham try to play good football, although can be unpredictable. Similarly to West Ham, it very much depends upon which team turns up on the day.”
“Raul Jimenez has started to score one or two goals for Fulham, which will come as a welcome relief to him and manager Marco Silva.”
Dear spoke about Jarrod Bowen, whose goal at Tottenham was his seventh away Premier League goal in successive matches he’s played for West Ham; “Jarrod has done fantastic.
“He’s an exciting player, but a hard-working player with it. As a supporter, you always know that you are getting nothing less than one hundred per cent from Jarrod. Fans demand that and he always delivers.”
Brian Dear’s prediction: Fulham 1-3 West Ham United
Jeevesie’s prediction: Fulham 1-1 West Ham United
