Sheffield United v West Ham United – Premier League – Bramall Lane – Sunday 2pm – Preview
Brian Dear is wary that bottom of the table Sheffield United provides the proverbial ‘banana skin’ ahead of West Ham United’s Premier League visit to Bramall Lane on Sunday.
While the Hammers form has improved of late, the Blades find themselves without a victory following seven defeats from their eight games to date.
“It’s a game we should be targeting, but cautiously,” Dear told Yellow Sport.
“Chris Wilder will be under pressure to turn things around, but I’m sure he’s confident in his own ability at that of his players. The 4-1 defeat against Chelsea would have hurt because usually there’s not too much in it where Sheffield United are concerned. I think the international break allowed them to regroup. We must be ready and wary of a backlash.”
Nevertheless, Dear insisted West Ham’s recent form should give them the confidence to secure another three-point haul against the Yorkshiremen.
“They’ve been a bit of a bogey team to us, but it all about now, not the past. We’ve been picking up results. Admittedly, the performance against Fulham wasn’t great, but we seem to have evolved – we ground a result out – we are learning other ways to win.
“I think we will need to improve on Fulham to beat Sheffield United, but previous outings against Wolves, Leicester and Manchester City provided the evidence that the squad is more than capable of pushing into the top half of the Premier League table.
Brian Dear’s prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 West Ham United
Jeevesie’s prediction: Sheffield United 1-1 West Ham United
