Despair for Ange as Spurs display similar weaknesses

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United – Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Reaction

Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 West Ham United

Tottenham’s bravery under Ange Postecogou is ultimately proving to be their downfall.

The Lilywhites are without a win in five after West Ham United came from behind to win in N17. Spurs have led in all five matches but a single point from fifteen on offer suggests that Plan A – However easy on the eye – requires some down-and-dirty attention before their campaign fizzles out before their very eyes.

“I think it’s another game where we’ve dominated a game of football and haven’t turned our dominance into something more tangible and kept the opposition in the game,” an angry Postecoglou fumed.

“I thought we were really poor in both boxes tonight – both with our finishing and both goals were terrible to concede.

“We had some unbelievable chances – for us, it’s another game, like the Villa game and other games earlier this year, and I said during the week our attacking play has a long way to go. In general, we have a long way to go, and tonight was more evidence of that.

The Spurs boss added: “Us being good means us being 3-0 up.

“This isn’t about us playing good football, it’s about us winning games of football. That’s what I’ve said from the start.

“I set teams up to win games and 1-0 at half-time was not a good performance from us.

“A good performance would have been 3-0 or 4-0 up, as was the case against Villa. And when you don’t, and give up goals you shouldn’t like today then you get what you deserve.”
